Frequently Asked Questions

Olive oil, especially extra virgin olive oil, is accepted as the healthiest type of oil in the world with its rich antioxidants, healthy fatty acids and vitamins. Here are the reasons:

Protects Heart Health: The high amount of monounsaturated fatty acids in olive oil lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) while increasing good cholesterol (HDL). This reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

It Is a Strong Source of Antioxidants: Especially in cold pressed and early harvest olive oils, polyphenols, which are abundant, fight free radicals and protect cells. These substances delay aging and strengthen immunity.

Facilitates Digestion: Olive oil helps to balance stomach acid and relaxes the digestive system. Especially a teaspoon of olive oil drunk on an empty stomach in the morning supports intestinal health.

Has an Anti-Inflammatory Effect: The oleocanthal substance in olive oil shows a natural anti-inflammatory effect. This is effective especially in the prevention of joint disorders and chronic diseases.

Strengthens Brain and Memory Functions: The healthy fats and vitamin E in olive oil protect brain cells. It helps to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s and supports cognitive functions that decrease with age.

It Is a Natural Skin and Hair Care Product: Olive oil moisturizes the skin, gives shine to the hair and delays skin aging with its natural vitamin E. It is the purest form of natural care without chemicals.

Conclusion: When consumed properly and in moderation, especially pure extra virgin olive oil, is one of the cornerstones of a healthy life.

Mjora brings this golden oil to your table in its purest and most natural form.

Difference in Terms of Harvest Time

First harvest olive oil is obtained from the olives picked at the very beginning of the season. In other words, it is the symbolic first production made in the first days of the harvest season.
Early harvest olive oil, on the other hand, is produced when the olives are harvested before they are fully ripe, while they are still green and firm. This usually covers the months of October – November.
Every first harvest can also be an early harvest. However, not every early harvest is a first harvest.

Flavor Profile and Polyphenol Content

Since in both harvest types the olives are pressed while still green:

  • The taste can be more fruity, slightly bitter, and pungent in the throat.

  • The polyphenol (antioxidant) content is very high.

  • Its nutritional value is much higher compared to late harvest olive oil.

Conclusion:

First harvest olive oil is produced in limited quantities from the first fruits of the season. Early harvest olive oil, on the other hand, is produced on a larger scale and is the most valuable type of olive oil in terms of health.

Yes, olive oil freezes at certain temperatures.

Especially extra virgin olive oil can begin to freeze or crystallize between 5°C and 10°C. This is a strong indicator that the olive oil is genuine and free of additives.

The freezing of olive oil shows its quality.

Due to its content of monounsaturated fatty acids (especially oleic acid), olive oil can solidify at low temperatures.
Crystallized olive oil returns to its original state when brought back to room temperature and does not lose any of its nutritional value.

Should one be suspicious of olive oil that does not freeze?

Not freezing is not always a bad thing, because different olive varieties and oil components can affect the freezing point.

However, olive oils that do not freeze even at very low temperatures may have a possibility of being mixed (with cottonseed oil, refined oil).

Therefore, it is important to shop from reliable brands that provide analysis reports.

Why Can Mjora Olive Oil Freeze?

Because it is:

  • 100% additive-free

  • Cold-pressed

  • High in oleic acid content

  • Bottled just as it comes from nature, without additives

Freezing proves the naturalness, purity, and quality of Mjora.

How to thaw frozen olive oil?

It is enough to leave your olive oil at room temperature (20–22°C) for a while.

Do not expose it to sudden heat such as microwave, stovetop, or radiator; this may damage the chemical structure of the oil.

Conclusion:

The freezing of olive oil is one of the strongest signs that it is genuine, natural, and of high quality.

At Mjora, the olive oils we offer preserve all the purity and richness of nature just as they are.

When olive oil is obtained using natural methods such as crushing and kneading olives, some olive fruit particles remain in the olive oil. These pieces in the filtered oil are not immediately noticeable, but after a few months of resting in the oil container, sedimentation may be observed at the bottom. This does not mean that the oil has spoiled, rotted, or molded, but rather indicates that the olive oil is natural.

Natural virgin olive oil is the highest quality type of olive oil, obtained solely by mechanical means, with a low acidity level and no chemical processing. Mjora olive oil belongs to this category.

Cold pressing is the processing of olives at temperatures below 27°C. This method preserves vitamins, minerals, and aromatic compounds. Mjora olive oils are produced using this method.

Store your olive oil in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, with the lid tightly closed. Mjora is presented in green glass Dorika bottles, which protect the oil from light exposure.

This is due to the polyphenols contained in high-quality olive oil. A slight burning sensation and bitterness in the throat indicates that the olive oil is fresh, healthy, and rich in antioxidants.

You can use Mjora in salads, hot dishes, breakfast, soups, or consume it directly. It is also a natural aid for skin and hair care.
